Hello from Prague Airport! I’m wrapping up a fantastic week at the WCPC 2023 Europe event. I arrived on October 20th and taught a 3-day boot camp from the 22nd to the 24th, just before the main conference started on October 25th. In my Rocksar Wireless Analysis class, 8 students (@HerrNilsson is missing in the photo) joined me as we delved deeply into Wi-Fi frame analysis, with hands-on lab exercises to reinforce their learning. The feedback from the students has been overwhelmingly positive, and I couldn’t be happier with how the course went.

Whenever I attend this conference, I get to connect with the Wi-Fi community and nurture my friendships. As an Ekahau instructor, Tuesday night offered a great chance to catch up with fellow instructors and the Ekahau team.

I noticed stronger precence from Cisco after a long time. I enjoyed catching up with them at WLPC

Cisco generously provided each conference attendee with a CW9166 (Wi-Fi 6E) access point (AP) and a 5-year subscription. This is one of the best giveaways I have ever seen at a WLPC event. In addition, many other vendors also gave away their APs through raffles, deep-dive sessions, and more.

I also met Cisco Community and Cisco Learning Network VIPs, David and Karsten. David always makes me feel welcome in Prague like a family member, and I’m grateful to have friends like you.

I have attended “WiFi Explorer” Deep dive from Adrian Granados and learn few new things about Wi-Fi 6E. During 2.5 days of main conference, there were many great presentations. Once they are available on the Wireless LAN Professional YouTube channel, I will link them here. There are some exciting presentations about updates to Wi-Fi tools that you should watch.

  • What’s new with Ekahau (Just Go Survey and PCAP capability on Sidekick2 with Analyzer App)
  • Lessons from Wi-Fi Experts (Hamina Survey Hardware)
  • Bridging the divide between Surveys and simulations (Sidos Survey Hardware)
  • Aaronia Spectrum Analyzers (one of the coolest Spec Analyzers that I have seen)
  • WlanPi Updates

Here are some other presentations that I found interesting. Please check out all the presentations, including those not listed here as well.

  • Challenges with Wi-Fi roaming by Wes Pervus
  • Exploring Depth of Wi-Fi 7 by David Coleman
  • Off with Offset by Peter Makenzie
  • 6GHz clients created not equal by Jim Palmer
  • Warehouse Wi-Fi is possible without an external Antenna by Oguzhan Eren
  • Client Analytics – Lessons learned from the Globe by Minse Kim (Cisco)
  • Wi-Fi 7 Data Rates – Francois Verges
  • Channel Switch Announcement by Ferney Munoz (You will see human touch of WLPC community in this talk)

Here are some snapshots taken during the conference.

Like at any other conference, I met a lot of new friends, and many of them thanked me for my contributions to Wi-Fi community through my blog. Diego came all the way from Colombia to WLPC and told me that my blog was his inspiration for his journey to obtain his CCIE-Wireless. He is also very close to achieving his CWNE, and I’m glad to have met him in person and learned his story.

Girish, another friend from Boston, appreciated my work and spent quality time with me during WLPC. We had a pleasant conversation, discussing both Wi-Fi and mindfulness practices, over lunch just before I left the hotel.

Like at any other conference, I met a lot of new friends, and many of them thanked me for my Now it’s time to head to the UK for a few days and catch up with a few more friends before starting my long trip back to Melbourne.
